I first encountered Signe on stage in the theatre production ‘The Idiot’ in Aarhus, DK in 2007. From the very first moment, I was astonished by her radiating power, energy, and undeniable presence. At that time, I was in the midst of a personal transition, moving from my former work as a makeup artist into photography, and something about Signe’s expression sparked a strong creative curiosity in me.
I asked if I could photograph her, and that initial portrait marked the beginning of an ongoing collaboration that has continued ever since.
Working with Signe has been a constant source of inspiration for me. She possesses a rare ability to transform in front of the camera, shifting effortlessly into new shapes and character every time we work together. She is deeply creative and always willing to explore, play, and push the boundaries of the image together with me. This has a great importance to me.
And I can honestly say that I have never taken a photograph of Signe that I didn’t love— from the start she has been one of my true muses.
Out of this ongoing collaboration has also emerged a collection of artworks available through the webshop - a selection:
“Lis has a very special ability to make me feel safe. She moves around slowly, like a cat, and suddenly I find myself standing there, in a bunny mask, cigarette in my mouth and a cocktail in my head, and pregnant, as I was at the time. And I love that image of myself heavily pregnant.”
