I met the amazing Elizabeth Debicki at Lake Como, while my husband was there shooting the film The Burnt Orange Heresy with her. I was immediately fascinated by her grace and elegance. It’s rare that I meet a woman who is taller than I am.

I asked if I could take her portrait, and she kindly agreed one evening while we were sitting together, having dinner at a restaurant. I panicked when I realised my camera battery was about to die, so I didn’t have time to take many photographs of her. It made me extremely nervous that I both had to photograph her portrait and almost had no power left to get a good shot. So I simply had to use up the remaining battery and pretend it was intentional, as if I already had her portrait safely in the bag. Fortunately, this portrait was among the few photographs I managed to take.
